September Enforcement Test: Adult Access Needs Public Numbers
AACV asks Alberta to publish inspection, complaint, and illegal-supply numbers before reducing lawful adult vaping options.
The September question
Alberta already has an 18+ tobacco and vaping framework with photo identification rules, retailer restrictions, and enforcement tools, as summarized by Alberta rules and enforcement. The public question for September is whether government can show where youth access is actually happening before Bill 208 narrows the legal adult market.
What proof should look like
- Retailer inspection counts by region.
- Failed age-check results separated from online and informal supply.
- Complaint response times and repeat-offender actions.
- A plan for sellers that already ignore age verification.
Bill 208 focuses on flavoured single-use vaping products, while the bill text does not publish those source-of-access measurements.
Why adult access still matters
AGLC showed that enforcement can be reported in concrete terms, including investigations, seizures, retail value, and tax avoidance in its July 2026 contraband release. Vaping policy should meet that same standard before lawful adults lose products they currently purchase through legal channels.
